Default My guild asploded -.o

ive been busy at work lately, so i left my really good friend in charge of the guild.

So ive been away and she takes fairly good care of the guild.

We are in an alliance and the alliance leader was asking the officers what they thought about maintaining a minimum faction, etc.

My second in command posts in the forum about it and her proposal to increase guildsize and such. Some of the members disliked this, but thats ok.

So...last night. An older member (officer) returns from not being active for say...2 months. He doesnt like how the guild is headed, how we are allied, how we are imposing on the members, blah blah, blah blah. He also doesnt like that my friend is in charge and how we wasnt notified. He doesnt like how i promoted some other officers ahead of a more long time member of the guild.

So to be short, he was pissed. Took it out on my second in command, took it out on the alliance. Convinced a few of my closest members to leave with him.

So ya..im fairly annoyed.

Sorry to hear that, perhaps it is for the better, and time for a new start. Good luck with the guild.

Yeah, that stinks, sorry to hear it.

At least he left, even if he took some with him. As an officer he coulda done worse in booting everyone. Or staying and being a festering wound that needed dealing with and causing more turmoil.

*squishes lyra*

I've talked to you alot since it happened... but I still wanted to leave you a squish here!

Advice for readers...
If you're unhappy with your guild for whatever reason... try communicating! Show up, ask questsions, make suggestions, and ffs have an open mind. If majority are in favor of something you don't support, it might be time to say gg and part ways unless it's something you can learn to deal with.

Aw....that is way too bad. I agree with Deviant though. If something in the guild troubles me I make SURE every single officer gets the message. And, most of the time, it gets worked out =) my guild is vry well organised.

Oh wow... Someone came back from hybernation without a good rest >_<

Sorry hun that it went down that way... I've seen similar situations and such. Hold a war meeting as council meetings seem slim and get a vote from everyone what they want to do. Do they like the guild/alliance and the rest as a whole? Do they want to continue to go in their own dirrection? I hear these things happening so often.

Our first guild was run by friends... It went nasty... We took the main force of the guild since no one was on most the time but us few members, we packed up and moved out. Made our own. Its flurishing now but not without its own issues. If we even THINK something will be an issue we hold a meeting. All those that give a rats tail will be there. My opinion, anything can be worked through if ya just try, but it sounds like the sleeper was in a bad mood and didn't care to talk it out.

*meeps* Better luck next time hun.

Wow I just started kicking members that were away for 2 months it did not help the guild for members to be away so long. It is good that he left. Your guild will be stronger for it and I am sure he was ready to leave before hand just wanted a reason.

This is why morons who don't know the situation shouldn't make random flames. SHIN is full of great people, but with every guild, there's bound to be a little drama now and then. Even with the best attempts at communication, some people withhold their feelings and blame the leader for not doing anything about it anyway. Lyra's a great leader/person/friend, and you, sir, should go take a long walk off a short pier. Seriously, what could she do, being at work and all? Guy comes back from inactive for a long time and explodes, it's not her fault.

Sorry for your loss, Lyra. Please excuse random idiots like the quoted nublet. You and Fiona will always have a spot in Slash Afk, if you ever desire one. <3

Thanks for the sympathies everyone. I feel that the guild has stabilized a bit now (we've lost about 6 members) and im confident again.

If i can count my blessings, its that I found out who is truly loyal to me and who is not, and even those who left because they felt they had to still contact me through PM or are kept as Guild Guests.

oh yeah, i rember this... when you decided to go luxon without letting the guild vote? when you allied with someone without consulting your officers? when you decided to get someone banned from 17 different forums for no reason? and you wonder why your guild fell apart? and you wonder why everybody left?

thats why i left, cuz you betrayed us. the guild was supposed to be a bunch of friends playing GW together, and you went and started making stupid rules that had nothing to do with friendship, but raather discrimination and segregation.

you deserve ZERO sympathy, and you deserved to have shinigami fall apart.

oh, sorry, your *friend* went and made all these rules, which apparently you approved.

maybe should check all your facts.

maybe it was your *friend* who screwed up your guild... not this 'old officer' you are blaming it on.

*sigh* okay I see the drama isn't over yet x_x

I think this being a bit silly now, I don't like it that it has ended up like this at all. I am very disappointed in many things as such as myself.

I don't want all this to start a war between people.

- I just wanted to say that.

Hey guys its me the "noobish 2 month inactive officer" and i thought i'd say my piece. For one thing the guild asploded because the dissention that the leader failed to address, it was there long before i said my piece.

I said my piece because unlike what she says i care about the members in the guild and unlike her i see the act of choosing her best friend over a more qualified person, ie someone that actually talks to the guildes knows what makes them upset and actually gives a damn about them.

Now yes things would have been different if Lyra didn't appoint Fiona as second in command only because she was a personal friend. She should have had guild consent. Also coming back and blaming me and another officer for the whole entire 2nd fallout of the guild is completly unorthadox for any type of self respecting guild leader.

The reason i got involved was because the problem was brought to me because the people issuing the problem to me i actually care about.

And you act like it was my problem that factions came out the reason i haven't been on for 2 weeks, not 2 months dangit.

O yeah btw, Eat more chikin!

From the words of a panda too lazy to register:

Ok first off
The guild did not fall apart because ONE officer had a "flipping of his shit"
The truth comes out now.
I was a "founding" member. I knew some of the roots of the guild members, and not many remain.
I joined the guild when MILES was the guild leader. He was a by far better leader than he's given credit.
He was able to build up the guild to flourishing states, and then he passed the torch to Lyra.
I then took some time off for a month. I came back and the guild was still active, talkative so on.
Miles was alot more active. Now then, Lyra took over the guild position and one by one, members left.
Some were swallowed up by WOW (Tis a foul beast she be) others left due to unhappiness.
Now, a few months later, I was finally "in the guild." I knew all the members quite well.
I realized their "Yes" and their "No's" and was able to conform to almost everyone's standards.
Now then, after the guild had an initial fallout, we got a few random members :
Eve, and a few others from AFK.
Now, Eve was a member that actually chose to stick with us. But she was promoted in the course of 1 week.
I had been in this guild since August, and it was around jan/feb. I was pretty pissed.
So I had to question it and Lyra's only response was a
"You have to step up your game."
I ask : What the hell?
She had promised me an officer position for about 2 weeks. She was working on final details, and
suddenly some random people show up, and we have 8 new officers? I'm not one of them?
All I get is a simple, "Step up your game"
So I got mad, and considered leaving. That was my SECOND fallout.
I was convinced by Lyra to stay. The guild then had it's second fallout.
The AFK members had left, and guildchat was a bit quieter, and I wanted to
change that. Lyra on the other hand, wanted the guild to "Welcome" it's new members,
This was a 3 week long period, which is far too long.
I wanted the guild to flourish like before. So I promoted Fiona
A personal friend of Lyra's, because I believed she would have made a fine officer.
To this day, I still don't regret that decision. So we invited 3-4 new members.
1 was removed for immaturity, and sheer vulgarity. So we had 3 new members. A
slight revival. Sure, we weren't at full power, but hey. It was something.
So Lyra came online and we were a bit nervous she would be mad. I, without her consent
Invited 3 new members, and 1 person was promoted to officer. She only said, "*Ties you down*"
and posted an anounecment of "FIONA IS IN CHARGE."
At the time, I thought she meant Fiona was to keep us in line, and I joked about it.
Fiona was a docile player, acted a bit noobish, but after settling she became a serious
player and showed us her true colors, which I didn't mind. She was a little stricter,
but it was fine by me.
So this is when I had my third fallout. A few weeks after, Lyra got a job. I felt a bit alienated.
People were talking left and right, I'd show up and there would be a dead silence.
So Lyra managed (again) to convince me that it's my fault, or it's just me.
(Not exactly a great leader's mark, blaming a person that complains)
So again, I stayed. (Quite pitiful of me eh?)
So then afterwards, we allied with ZoS (Zealots of Shiverpeak)
I was testing the limits of Alliance Chat, and apparently, I went a bit too far.
That's pretty understandable. So I was reprimanded lightly, and soon ZoS began forcing THEIR policies on us.
That time, Lyra caved into that. Our guild used to represent stupidity, fun, perversion so on so forth.
What happened now?
My once entertaining stupidity, and sheer randomness became a nuisance. We were with the ZoS guild for a mission
I was merely pointing out there were fireworks in the sky, and describing them. Lyra gives me a, "PANDA."
Which I felt was a reprimand, and when the Leader, the one I had trusted would reprimand me for something I would have
done anyway, that was my final straw.
I left Shin after speaking to a guild leader. As soon as the details were hammered out, I edited the anouncement
I left a, "Oh me, Oh My! Well look at that Panda went bye bye!"
Now, another member of Shin was in that same guild, and thats how I know the guild leader.
She accepted me into the guild, and he asked, "Wtf are you doing here?"
I explained my story, how the guild changed, and how ZoS had made me feel bamboozled.
So he goes and realizes the same thing. He decided to raise a little bit of hell.
After he heard what I felt, he left as well after giving ZoS a "RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GO You"
Soon after, Lyra comes online noticing alot of her members are missing. She basically removed everyone from the guild
that was still in it, and said, "It ends with me, I suppose."
Now personally, at the time, I felt a bit of guilt. So as everyone was speaking, reminiscing, I didn't say anything.
I didn't feel I had the right to speak. When someone would flame another, or a dispute would come up,
that was the only time I opened my mouth at our, "closing." I was no longer an immature fool. I would only defend
everyone. Everyone took my ideas, said ok, and moved on.
Now, Lyra told us why we didn't tell her we wanted to leave the alliance.
Personally : I felt everyone else was happy in that alliance. I mean, is it worth sacrificing the world
for one man?
After that, Lyra said yeah everything is fine. We all parted our ways. Lyra reopened the guild, got some of the
original members to rejoin. I stayed with the guild I joined. Fiona went off to join ZoS. Some of the inactive members
will log on and go, "Wtf?"

But now, I read this. I find out she's talking like this behind our backs.
What is that telling you?
You all want to defend her, but in the end, it's come to this.
That is my entire story of my time in the guild. I may have left a few elements out, for sake of
keeping that guild together still, but other than that this is pretty much the story.
It's not that Lyra nor Forsaken kept details from you, it's just that they both didn't know about them.

I harbor no ill feelings, and I hope that you all don't as well. But I felt I had to add my story, i <3 Pai

Panda even tho I love you like hell~

I have to defend myself and Lyra;
When I joined the guild in january everything seemed fine.
after a month or two I bought a new account for the game and joined in with shin, soon after that I told Saru that I wanted to leave the guild with one of the account only to hang out with my friend and his guild for a little while.
At that time Saru didn't want me to leave the guild with any of the accounts. So he promoted my newest account to officer.
Now I said to him that I didn't want to be an officer, coz i wasnt ready nor had been a member of the guild for a long time and i seemed to be unfair for the original members. So i waited for Lyra to demote me since officers cant, and I then I didn't understand why I didnt get demoted; she told me i had enough knowladge about the game and I was very helpful in the guild. I later came back with my other account and that got promoted aswell.

And for the Afk (former Ecks DI members) who joined and then left. They popped in the guild and got promoted by Saru. (I can recall that day very well)
It wasnt Lyra who promoted them... but yes she didn't demote them coz she know them from before and she knew they are capable officer with a lot of potentiall. They left the guild, since Slash Afk was founded.

So when it comes in promoting people, it wasnt lyra's fault...

- Eve
